The Al Berard Memorial Music Fund at Community Foundation of Acadiana  directly promotes and supports Acadiana's unique musical culture by providing instruments, master teachers and music scholarships to students of all ages as well as funding for community based organizations that support our rich musical community and promote our culture in southwest Louisiana.  Over $55,000 have been granted to these types of organizations across Louisiana.  Read more and Donate here.

$10,000 was granted to the newly developed Gifted/Talented Music Program at St. Martin Parish Schools.  Click here for more.  

$1,880 was granted to Woodvale Elementary for "French Week".  Students were immersed in the French language, as well as Cajun Music and Art.  

$500 was granted to "Les Etoiles de Louisane". This young Lafayette singing group will travel to New Foundland in June. They will sing with a choir from L’École des Grands-Vents, a francophone school in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada. Visit https://lesetoiles.exchange/ 

 

$2,000 granted Acadiana Center for the Arts in support of Project LoLA: Art + Technology Experiment. Louisiana Folk Roots and Old Fiddlers' Association will teach youth from Lafayette and Chattanooga, Tenn. a song specific to their respective region, including a Cajun or Creole song and an old-time fiddle tune.  READ MORE

$5,000 grant to Le Reveil du Francais which directly supports the French Immersion program in St. Martin Parish.  

$1,000 was granted to the Threadhead Cultural Foundation to promote the cultural heritage of New Orleans through grants and assistance to musicians, artists, and others involved in endeavors relating to music and other artistic expressions whose work is in the tradition of preserving, promoting and disseminating the cultural heritage of New Orleans and the surrounding area of Louisiana. The ULL Press teamed up with the Al Berard Fund at CFA to give each student at Teche Elementary a copy of Yvette Landry's children book.  

We are so happy to share photos of the people in our community and Acadiana who have benefited from the the Al Berard Memorial Music Fund at Community Foundation of Acadiana.  The fund was able to grant money to local schools for music education, as well as The Shining Light Foundation, Tipitina's Co-Op (Lafayette), Louisiana Folk Roots Summer Kids Camp, Lafayette Parish Gifted & Talented Program Arts Booster (TAB), St. Martin Parish Schools, NuNus Arts & Culture Collective, Threadhead Cultural Foundation, and many other organizations.
